NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

To the Editors of the CRIMSON:

Having just finished reading the second of your copyrighted articles on Moral Rearmament (March 28), I am impelled to defend a classmate against the rather vicious innuendos of your writer, Mr. James K. Glassman. On page four, we read, "One big man with Sing-Out is Tom Galleway. He says he attended Harvard, but he is not listed in the Alumni Director [sic]...."

I am not so concerned with the snide way Mr. Glassman goes on to report the confession of college offenses which "Tom Galleway" made to a group of Harvard freshmen. But who exactly is this "Tom Galleway" who, we are made to feel, has fabricated a Harvard background? The answer lay easily at hand for Mr. Glassman.

First, considering that he was writing a copyrighted article, he might have checked the spelling of the name of a person he intended to castigate. He would have found that "Tom Galleway" is actually Tim Gallwey. Then, having discovered in the Alumni Directory that William T. Gallwey is Harvard '60, he might have glanced in the year book for that class and seen such entries as: PBH, Varsity Squash, Varsity Tennis (Captain), Hasty Pudding. Probably not much more could be gleaned from the public records, but any of this at least would have rescued Tim Gallwey from being characterized as a shadowy liar.

May I add personally, as one who is in no great sympathy with MRA, that he was certainly one of the best liked and respected members of his class. I think Mr. Glassman should be ashamed of this shoddy performance. Marsh H. McCall Jr. '60 Instructor in Classics
