Soccer Powers Harvard, Brown, Penn Face Crucial League Tests

With the Ivy soccer race in turmoil after three upsets last Saturday, title favorites Harvard, Penn, and Brown face crucial contests this weekend. Last week's results were

* Harvard 0--Columbia O. Harvard below a golden opportunity to gain an edge over Penn and Brown last Saturday. Crimson stars Ahmed Yehia, Solomon Gomez, and Peter Bogovich missed many opportunities to score. Now the Crimson must top Cornell to remain in title contention. The Lions must beat Yale this weekend or settle for second division in the league.

* Brown 2--Yale 0. Brown staged a strong comeback against Yale after Penn chopped the Bruin winning streak two weeks ago. Brown looks vulnerable after graduating two All-Americans and two All-New-England players last June. But the Bruins should easily handle Dart-mouth this Saturday. They need the victory to stay in the running for the Championship. Yale is still winless.

* Dartmouth 3--Princeton 1. Perennially hapless Dartmouth upset the Tigers and ruined their chance to top all contenders. Now the Tigers must overpower Penn in two weeks to stay in the first division. The Tigers mauled the Lions two weeks ago, 4-0.

* Cornell 2--Penn 0. Penn was expected to win after placing second in the league last year. The Quakers face Princeton in two weeks for a decisive match. Cornell fights for a second win this Saturday at Harvard. HOUSE ATHLETICS Standing Through 10/11/68 Soccer   W  L  Tie  Pts. 1. Eliot  3  0  0  6 2. Dudley  2  1  0  4 Leverett  2  1  0  4 4.
