Dean Glimp has decided to run for election to the School Committee in Belmont, a Boston suburb.
Glimp accepted an appointment last spring to fill a school-board vacancy after another committeeman stepped down.
Glimp said he is running on a platform of "quality education and frugal spending." He added that he wants "maximum mileage out of every tax dollar."
He noted that the issue of money was particularly important since a Massachusetts state law gives control of the school budget to the school committee.
Dean Glimp is also a member of the Town Democratic Committee of Belmont.
The campaign coordinator for the school race is Humphrey Doermann '52 Assistant to the Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences for Financial Affairs.
The election for the School Committee will take place March 3.
