The first nation-wide draft deferment tests will be given in May, Selective Service Director, Lewis B. Hershey said last night.
Hershey told a meeting of college presidents in Chicago that the tests will be primarily for students with lower class standings. Local draft boards will use a student's test results combined with his class rank to determine if he should be reclassified 1-A, Hershey said.
