Matmen to Seek Second Ivy Win Against Columbia

Harvard's wrestling team is favored to remain unbeaten in Ivy competition today in a match which will pit the Crimson's strength against Columbia's weakness in New York.

Columbia, which is 1-3-1 overall and 1-2 in the Ivy League, is considered strongest in the lower weights. The Lions have taken early leads in all their contests and have usually watched them evaporate in the heavier weight matches. Harvard, however, has usually been forced to overcome deficits incurred in the early matches by strong performances in the heavy weights.

Harvard, which is 3-1 after last week's 44-10 victory over U. Mass. and 1-0 in the Ivy League, will be counting on strong performances from juniors Bruce Goodman and Paul Catinella at 130 and 137 and sophomore Pat Coleman at 145 to contain the Columbia spurt in the early matches. Coleman, who wrestled at 152 against U. Mass., was moved down this week to strengthen the Crimson lightweight effort.

Harvard Captain Howie Chatterton at 167 and senior Howie Freedman at 191 will power Harvard's heavyweight attack.

Columbia, after losing to Yale 20-12 last week, will rely on Jimmy Lu at 123 and Mike Quinn at 135 to help pull away from Harvard early in the match. Quinn, a junior, was 10-0 last year, and has lost only one match this season.

The Lion's heavyweight woes may be eased by the addition of Jim Peterson at the 177 slot, which Columbia has had to forfeit in their previous matches.

Harvard's freshman wrestling team will also take on the Columbia freshman team in New York tomorrow.
