With the greatest of ease, both the Montreal Canadiens and, more importantly, the Boston Bruins, rolled to four straight victories in the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs and will now face off in the Eastern Division finals starting Tuesday.

After blanking the Toronto Maple Leafs, 10-0 and 7-0, in Boston Garden, the Bruins squeaked out the final two wins by one-goal margins, 4-3 and 3-2. In last night's triumph, Derek Sanderson notched two goals, while record-setting Phil Esposito added another.

Montreal built an early 3-0 lead, and then held off the determined New York Rangers, 4-3.

Boston sports was also blessed with a 108-100 victory by the Celtics over the New York Knicks in the opening game of the best-of-seven series yesterday afternoon.
