Longtime Harvard Social Studies Director Anya Bassett Remembered As ‘Greatest Mentor’
To the Editors of the CRIMSON:
Anne de Saint Phalle's critique of dorm life from a strictly social and psychological point of view is the best I have ever seen on this subject.
It has been my experience in operating rental housing to a primarily university clientele in both Cambridge and Ithaca that the single most important factor leading to resident satisfaction is the social environment in the building. Decoration and facilities are about tied for second. Location, construction quality, price, etc. are further down the list. Sexually frustrated tenants are never happy.
Unfortunately, most university people make their housing choice decision (or worse, have it made for them) on entirely different bases. Jason Fane, MBA '66 Ithaca, N.Y.
