Jet's Sample Criticizes Commissioner Rozelle

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Johnny Sample controversial black cornerback on last year's world champion New York Jets, yesterday attacked Pete Rozelle's performance as professional football commissioner.

'Dictato'

At a news conference yesterday, Sample described Commissioner Rozelle as "no more than a dictator," adding that Rozelle "is biased against the AFL because it was the NFL which gave him his job."

Sample announced that he plans to publish a series of books on black athletes and their struggle for equality in professional sports. His first book, set for publication early next year, will cover his dozen years in professional football.

'Closely-Knit'

Analyzing his years with the Jets, Sample indicated that black and white football players on the Jets were a closely knit group. But relations with management left much to be desired, he said, since "Negroes are offered lower starting salaries."
