FORRESTER'S THESIS

The Mail

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

To the Editors of the Crimson:

I hope there will be intensive study of the thesis of Jay Forrester described in the October 18th Crimson.

Although Mr. Forrester originally presented this thesis most tentatively, he has done nothing to discourage publicity on a very shaky case concerning the nature and development of cities.

His conclusion of course is that low-income housing is bad for the long term health of the city. No doubt. But has Mr. Forrester tried his computer on the location of low-income housing anywhere else? It would not be surprising if the results were the same.

The obvious solution is to outlaw low-income people. Another solution is to outlaw computers. Another is to require some intellectual integrity from well-known people. Robert S. Sturgis '44
