Swimmers Meet Cornell In Bid for Second Win

Only overconfidence stands in the way of Harvard's swimmers at 2 p.m. this afternoon in the IAB when the Crimson tries to win its second Eastern League meet of the season in a match-up with Cornell.

The Big Red is winless in five League meets, and it appears that only a miracle will enable Cornell to win either of its last two contests, even though Harvard is one of its opponents.

The Crimson has struggled through what was expected to be a premier season, and with three narrow losses suffered already. Harvard appears doomed to a second-division finish. Today's meet offers the Crimson a temporary reprieve before competition against Penn and Yale, the League's top two squads.

Small Squad

For the second Saturday in a row, coach Bill Brooks will use a small squad. Butterflyer Craig Sewell has quit, while Al Ackerman and Henry Watson are still working their way back into shape.

But even a pared down Crimson team should have a lot more talent than Cornell, which is suffering this year from the graduation of the outstanding George Boizelle.

However, the visitors will be strong in the dives. Sophomore Larry More is undefeated this winter in three-meter competition, and Ken Light is a top one-meter man. They will face Harvard's Tom Wallace, Dave Silver, and Dick Eisenberg.
