Water Poloists Finish Second Behind Eastern Champion Elis

Showing expert ball control. Yale trounced Harvard 8-2 to capture the Eastern Water Polo championship in New Haven yesterday.

The Crimson offense failed to score in the first half, despite several Yale turnovers and repeated scoring attempts by Pete Kellogg and Dan Daiss. Harvard's only goals came in the third period on a free penalty shot by Pete Hursh. Pete Kellogg threw in a goal in the fourth period against the Eli second string.

"Yale played a fine game and threw some amazing shots." Harvard goalie Dough Forrester said after the game. Yale's Steve King and Dive Rosenbaum led the Yale offense in scoring with two goals apiece.

"Even though we ended up second, it's really the highest finish we've ever achieved." Forrester said. "We've had a very successful season with a lot of impressive victories."

Harvard defeated Army 11-8 and Fordham 10-8 on Saturday to meet Yale in the final round. The Ells' high scorer King and Harvard's Pete Kellogg were selected the tourney's most valuable players.
