Those who are acquainted with Hifzi Gecer and his small, informally run garage in Somerville may find it somewhat incongruous that he should run such a large advertisement as appears on the back cover of this supplement. A word of explanation: The supplement is being financed by a friend of the Crimson's and of Hifzi's who is happy to be able with one financial contribution to support this type of journalistic effort and the interests of Hifzi's Foreign Car Service. Business has been slow this winter season, what with the depressed state of the economy and the perennial financial worries beginning with the expenses of the Christmas season, the cost of insurance renewals and the onus of income taxes.

Hifzi's has for the most part garnered clientele by word of mouth, and the printed testimonials of his customers are merely a less haphazard continuation of this same approach. The auto repair business enjoys a growing reputation for monumental rip-offs, and if the remarks of Hifzi's customers are found credible, the ad may be seen as something closer to a public service announcement than just another BIG HYPE.
