Golfers Face Amherst, Tufts In Second Match of Season

The Harvard golf team travels to Amherst this afternoon for a triangular match with the Lord Jeffs and Tufts. Amherst beat the Crimson last year, while Harvard had little trouble defeating Tufts.

After being snowed out twice on Amherst's new course last season. Harvard will be playing on the Jeffs' home turf for the first time. It is possible that the match may be cancelled yet another time because of wet grounds. Crimson captain Skip Kistner called the course "tricky" and said it could work to Amherst's advantage, as could the wet conditions following a rainy weekend.

Another factor in today's match could be the effect of Harvard's week long layoff. A match Friday at Cornell was cancelled, and Kistner fears that the team may have "lost the edge on their game" that they developed during a fine trip during spring break.

Amherst, with five returning lettermen, is traditionally a strong New England team, and will, according to Kistner, "be a lot tougher than Tufts."
