Walter Alston yesterday signed his 22nd one-year contract to manage the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1975. Alston has guided the Dodgers since 1954.
Only two other men, Connie Mack and John McGraw, have managed a major league team longer than Alston. Mack managed the Philadelphia Athletics for over 50 years, and McGraw led the New York Giants 31 years.
