Jazz

By James Cramer

Ho boy. Check out this week's Real Paper for a well-assembled section on the latest in jazz. They have solid articles on Miles Davis, and Boston jazz clubs, as well as more than adequate lists of the local jazz clubs.

But don't get too worked up about jazz--you'll probably have to wait until you get home to be satisfied.

Unless you like the new Buddha-ized version of formerly great drummer Norman Connors. Like other back-up men to Pharoah Sanders, Connors had a strong reputation as a hard driving drummer. But Buddha has apparently taken that away from him. At least he doesn't jive around with that disco stuff.

I caught Al Jarreau's act at Paul's Mall last year. He pretty much stole the show. Jarreau can do things with his voice that other mortals could never dream of doing. Check his act out August 19 at the Mall.
