Intramural Teams Battle Yale; Kirkland Stopped by Elis, 12-8

Yale's Calhoun-Berkeley defeated Kirkland House in tackle football yesterday, 12-8, as Harvard and Yale squared off for pre-Game intramurals in New Haven.

For the second straight year, Kirkland took an undefeated record into the Yale weekend and came away beaten. The two Eli touchdowns were the only points scored against Kirkland all year.

The game, played in the rain on a field that did a good imitation of a pond, was decided in the first series of plays in the second half. Kirkland, behind by the final score at halftime, drove to a first and goal on the opponents' 3-yard line, but was stopped on downs without a score.

In other tackle football games, Mather and Trumbull-Saybrook fought to a scoreless tie and Eliot shut out J. Edwards-Branford. Leverett and Lowell were being strangled 15-0 and 24-0 respectively, and Winthrop battled its Eli opponent to a 6-6 tie.

In the championship soccer game, Eliot fell victim to Yale's Davenport College 2-1. In other contests, the booters from Kirkland and Dunster houses were victors, while Winthrop, Leverett, and Lowell both lost.

Winthrop's co-ed touch football team, Harvard's best, beat Trumble, 36-30, while Lowell House and Calhoun College were tied 12-12 in the same sport.

In the championship men's touch football game, Leverett House was routed by Berkeley College, 24-0.
