Not much is happening on the Jazz circuit this week. Johnny Hartman, the Duke's vocalist, has a one-night stand at Sandy's Jazz Revival out in Beverly.

Martha Reeves, of Heat Wave fame, is swinging down at Paul's Mall this weekend. Hardly jazz but she is a dynamite singer.

Dave Brubeck is also playing somewhere south of here but on principle I refuse to tell you where. Why doesn't he leave New England already?

In the distance, you can look forward to hearing Larry Coryell, one of the finer jazz guitarists, at the jazz Workshop. But that doesn't start happening until July 31.
