Harvard University police have begun a serious effort to halt parking violations, Captain Jeff Kahn of the Harvard Police said yesterday. He said the police are taking more vigorous action because of complaints by drivers who have paid for parking but find their spaces taken by unauthorized cars.
David Wilkins '77, said he almost had his car towed yesterday. He said, "This is the first time I ever saw them tow in the daytime."
Kahn agreed that daylight towing was intensified in January but said that his department tries not to tow undergraduates. He also said that many of the traffic signs that indicate proper times for proper parking are unclear. The signs will be replaced by the end of January.
