A damaged fire hydrant will result in the suspension of water service along Linden St. today.
"It won't interfere much with the Club," according to Lucius Winder, steward of the Delphic Club. "On Wednesdays we have a large supper and only cold sandwiches and soup for lunch. Besides, few members have time for squash in the morning, so the showers won't be used."
The Cambridge Water Department's repairs on the hydrant, which was hit by a car sometime in January, have been underway since Monday. "We had to dig up the street to put a gate on the hydrant, so we have to shut off the water," said Frank Misener, water maintenance foreman.
He added, "The repairs will take three hours at the most. We plan to start by 8:30."
