The University administration has not yet decided whether to open its files from the '50s to researchers interested in studying Harvard's actions during the McCarthy era.
A spokesman for Daniel Steiner '54, general counsel to the University, said yesterday that the administration is still considering whether to depart from Harvard's policy of keeping records confidential for 50 years.
President Bok told the Faculty Council in September that he would decide within a few weeks whether to open the records. Bok last week referred all questions to Steiner, who declined to state when the decision would be made.
