The Boston Red Sox swept a double-header from the Toronto Blue Jays last night, but gained only a half-game on the division-leading New York Yankees, who edged the Cleveland Indians, 2-1.

Luis Tiant won the nightcap, 5-1, after Don Aase took the opener, 6-5. Ace reliever Bill Campbell came in from the bullpen to save both games.
