Cornel West, Harvard Affiliates Call for University to Divest from ‘Israeli Apartheid’ at Rally
A Harvard Hillel Society committee is drafting a proposal asking the University to allow Jewish students to observe religious holidays without missing classes, Fredda P. Goldsmith '80, chairman of the committee, said yesterday.
The Jewish Affairs committee, which held its first meeting last night, decided to resubmit to the administration a proposal which calls for professors to hold make-up classes or provide tapes and transcripts of lectures given on religious holidays for students who miss class. The proposal was originally made three years ago when registration was held on Yom Kippur, Goldsmith said.
Peace
"Sometimes there is a conflict between a student's religious and academic responsibilities. We don't think that conflict should exist," Reuben G. Perlmutter, chairman of Hillel, said yesterday.
