The College Athletic Business Managers Association recently awarded top honors to Francis J. Toland, business manager of the Harvard Department of Athletics.
Toland, who has managed Harvard's athletic department for 20 years, was elected Business Manager of the Year for 1977 at the association's annual convention.
Toland, the outgoing president of the association, said this week he was flattered even to be nominated for the award.
John P. Reardon Jr. '60, director of Athletics, said this week, "It's great" that Toland was honored, adding "he is one of the really outstanding human beings" in the department, and "a good kind of person to have around."
The Business Managers Association, which has 260 members, tries to promote efficient management practices among college athletic departments, Toland said.
