Freshmen Capture Dunster Pool Title

By L. DAVID Hanower

At 12:35 a.m. Friday morning, Humberto E. Gil '81 sank the eight-ball.

Gil and his teammate, Chris J. Downey '81, thus captured the first Dunster House Lloyd Walker Classic Eight-Ball Championship, defeating Dunster House residents Tony B. Bator '79 and Tod Tanaka '79.

Gil and Downey fought back from a 2-1 game deficit by taking the final two games in the best-of-five finals. The freshmen, the only non-Dunster House residents among the 35 competitors entered, took the laurels in what was intended to be a House activity.

One-Sided Applause

The crowd of 75 people who watched the finals unanimously backed the House team.

After the match, both sides admitted that they felt tension during the match.

Reflecting the missed chances, Tanaka added, "The game was there. We just had to take the ballsy shots."
