Television Station Recruits Students For Election Poll

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Teichner Associations Incorporated (TAI) is recruiting college students from Harvard and other Boston colleges to distribute questionnaires for WNAC-TV (channel 7) at 35 polling sites November 6 during the Boston mayoral elections. Each student poller will receive $50 tax-free.

Channel 7 news will predict the next mayor from student data shortly after the polls close, Steve Teichner, president of TAI, said yesterday. The questionnaire asks the voter's choice for mayor, reasons for that choice, opinions on major campaign issues and age, sex and income.

Pollers will call in the questionnaire data at regular intervals starting at 7:30 a.m. on election day until 8 p.m. They will phone in the final tallies when the polls close.

Forty to fifty students will be selected from applications asking interests and campaign experience, Teichner said.
