Buildings and Grounds (B & G) is putting extra men on "cold watch" this weekend to avoid the freezing pipes and flooding that plagued Holyoke Center and other University buildings throughout the week.

B & G personnel will tour non-residential buildings to detect any trouble early. "When buildings are unoccupied, over the weekend, we're much more vulnerable," Norman Goodwin Jr., B & G utilities manager, said yesterday

The unrelenting low temperatures during the week caused heating problems at Holyoke Center, Hilles Library, the Dudley House Cooperative, and Quincy and Eliot Houses.
