Students met yesterday to discuss individual and collective strategies for promoting women's studies programs at Harvard.
Nancy J. Krieger '80, student coordinator for the informal gathering, outlined possible courses of action, saying the major obstacle is a lack of awareness about women's studies.
The group discussed several plans to generate awareness, including posters about women's studies, setting up a women's center to act as a clearinghouse for ideas, visiting individual department chairmen to suggest the development of courses within their concentrations and asking professors to incorporate material about women in their courses.
The Office for Institutional Policy Research on Women's Education and the Radcliffe Forum sponsored the meeting. Students will meet March 4 with Radcliffe Union of Students representatives to coordinate efforts on the issue.
