Racquetmen Squash MIT, 9-0, Rebound From Princeton Defeat

If the Harvard men's squash team was still hurting from their heart-breaking 5-4 loss against Princeton this weekend, they didn't show it yesterday at Hemenway, as they pummeled a hapless MIT squad, 9-0, in what one astute spectator termed "garbage squash."

The Crimson did not miss co-captains Mitch Reese and Chip Robie, who are resting for tomorrow's United States Racquet Association Nationals, as they won every game against the Engineers in a match that lasted barely 90 minutes.

Freshman Peter Dinnean and sophomore John Moore were pressed into varsity action for the first time, winning in the eight and nine spots respectively against MIT's Ross Bogert and Scott Davis Both claimed their matches in three straight games.

The rest of the powerful Harvard line up, including number-one, freshman Dave Boyurn, bounced the Engineers around in a display of complete dominance.

Boyurn unbeaten this year, used an arsenal of delicate drop shots and deep, powerful strokes to dismantle MIT's number one player, Dave Hasnin, 15-5, 15-10, 15-7.

Junior George Lemmon, senior Charles Duffy, sophomore Spencer Brog, and junior John Dinnean, rounding out the top five, allowed only one MIT player (Rob Bujarski against Dinnean) more than ten points in any single game.

"We have some good players coming up from the J. V. who deserve to play I'm glad to see John Moore win a varsity game," coach Dave Fish said after the match.

But Fish added that the 4-1 Crimson will have to get serious again before Nationals to morrow and a match with a string Penn team February 11.

"Nationals are going to be very tough We won't have Boyurn because he's going to play singles. So we'll have to go with Robie, Lemmon, Reese, Duffy and Brog. They're good players, but I've heard Princeton's line up will stay intact Hili [Rob Hill. Princeton's number one player] isn't going top play singles," Fish said.
