Pennsylvania snagged its first undisputed Ivy League title in 25 years and became the first team since the 1970 Dartmouth squad to go 7-0 in the Ivies by shutting out Cornell, 24-0, at Ithaca.

The Quakers' third consecutive league crown came behind an 11-of-16 performance by quarterback John McGeehan, who passed for 210 yards and notched two touchdowns.

Mike O'Neill drew first blood with a 19-yd. run, and the Big Red turned right around and blew its best scoring chance of the day by failing to capitalize on a blocked punt that left them at the Penn 38. A 48-yd. field goal attempt failed.

Finishing 8-1, the Red and Blue is the first champ since Yale in 1980 not to share the Ivy title. Cornell ended the year at 2-5, 2-7 overall, tied for sixth in the league.
