A renowned Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) flutist will perform at Harvard tonight in an effort to garner part of the final $20,000 needed for the Harvard Radcliffe Orchestra (HRO)'s European four this summer.

Doriot Dwyer, for the past 30 years the principal flutist of the BSO, will perform selections from Bach, Fauret and Vivaldi.

HRO has already raised $184.000 for its trip and is counting on telethons, corporate donations and the performance to do the rest, according to Mary Fllen Gleason '84, director of development for HRO.

"It was extremely generous of her [Dwyer] to do it for us," Gleason said.

Dwyer said that she agreed to do the benefit in part because she thinks the experience of a sustained tour is valuable for young musicians.

"A glamorous four is not all fun--it's a different kind of fun," said Dwyer.
