Blue Jays 6, Royals 5
The Toronto Blue Jays took a 2-0 series lead in their best-of-seven American League Championship Series with a 6-5 victory in 10 innings over visiting Kansas City yesterday afternoon.
The Royals scored a run in the top of the 10th to go up, 5-4, but RBI singles from Tony Fernandez and Al Oliver won the game for the Jays.
Dodgers 4, Cardinals 1
With Liz Taylor watching from the St. Louis box--but wearing a Los Angeles warmup jacket--the Dodgers drubbed the visiting Cardinals, 4-1, in the opening game of the National League Championship Series. Los Angeles benefited from the fine pitching performance of the true-blue tandem of Fernando Valenzuela and Tom Niedenfuer.
