A 31 year-old Boston resident was found dead on the edge of the Charles River next to Longfellow Bridge yesterday morning.

Police say that Martin Jansen, a hotel worker, appeared to have been strangled.

Jansen, whose wife reported him missing on Monday, was discovered at 8 a.m. by a jogger. His face was bloodied and the leg of one of his pants was wet. He did not appear to have drowned, according to Boston Police Officer Larry Gillis.

Robbery does not seem to have been a motive, Gillis said. Jansen's wallet, with identification and money still in it, was found on the body, Gillis said.

Police said they have no suspects in the case, nor have they determined any motive for Jansen's death.
