Fusco Named Hockey Captain

Scott M. Fusco '85-86 was elected the 88th Harvard men's hockey captain yesterday.

Fusco, a member of the 1984 U.S. Olympic team, amassed the second-highest, single-season point total in Harvard history this year, racking up 34 goals, 47 assists and 81 points Fusco was named ECAC Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Hobey Baker Award.

The Burlington, Mass native said last night that he was not sure how his election would effect his decision to turn professional.

Fusco, who took a year off for the Olympics, can return for his final year or sign with the Hartford Whalers, who own his professional rights. His decision will be based on whether he feels he will get an opportunity to play for the Whalers. His older brother Mark '83 is now a defenseman for Hartford.

The younger Fusco has already amassed the third highest career point total in Harvard history (172). If he returns for another year, he will, barring an injury, become Harvard's all-time leading scorer and its first 200-point man.
