SPRINGFIELD, Mass.-Notre Dame scored the game's last 12 points after Tom Sluby and Tim Kempton launched a second-held comeback that carried the Fighting Irish to a 66-52 victory over Boston College in the second round of the National Invitation Tournament last night.
Notre Dame (19-11) advances to a quarter-final game against Pittsburgh Friday night.
Boston College (18-12) trailed 28-24 at halftime before jumping ahead 39-32. But Kempton and Sluby, who each finished with 20 points, scored six-points each in a 14-4 spurt that put Notre Dame in from 40-43 with 8:16 remaining.

NEW YORK-After some initial skepticism, former basketball star Ernie Cobb agreed to fix a 1978 game against Harvard in return for payoffs from gamblers, a government witness testified yesterday.
Rocco Peris, the 25-year-old brother of a Pittsburgh gambler who helped organize the scheme, said he personally inside the arrangements with Cobb about a week before the Dec. 16 game against Harvard, which the heavily favored BC team won by only three points.
