Women Spikers Lose, 3-0

The Harvard women's volleyball team fell in straight sets, 15-12, 15-8, 15-6, to the University of Connecticut in Malkin Athletic Center last night to finish the regular season with a 4-14 mark.

Harvard led in the first set until UConn setter Kristin Paul served up six straight points--including two aces--to put the Huskies up 11-10. After that point the Crimson failed to mount a serious attack in the rest of the match.

"We definitely had the momentum to begin with," said sophomore Captain Maia Forman, "but we suffered from the same thing that's been plaguing us all season--lack of concentration."

"They had great passes and could receive any ball," said UConn Coach Linda Gottlieb. "Their setter [Forman] is excellent. She made every set right to the hitter. I think it was just the experience factor and the problem with concentration."

Harvard, which hasn't won a match on its home court since its Ivy League opener with Columbia, hosts the league championships.
