Men's Squash Heads to Nationals

The Harvard men's squash team journeys to New York City today for the start of the four-day United States National Amateur Championships tournament.

The tournament features competition for players of all age groups and attracts both American and foreign entrants.

Harvard's top three players, Kenton Jernigan, Rusty Ball, and Darius Pandole, will be entered in the open singles category. The winner of the open singles is universally acknowledged as the best amateur player on the North American continent.

Jernigan, who has won the title the past three years, is a strong favorite to win yet again. "I can't really imagine a player who can beat him," Co-Captain David Segal, Harvard's number eight player, said.

In addition, Ball and Pandole are expected to be among the top finishers.

The Crimson will also compete in the five-man team competition. Harvard will enter two squads: one composed of its number four through eight players and the other composed of its number nine through thirteen players.
