The Harvard men's and women's cross country teams had a tough afternoon running in the rain and mud at HYP's in Princeton, N.J., yesterday. Yale captured both the Main Memorial Trophy with a victory in the men's race and the Cheever Memorial Cup for a women's triumph.

The Harvard men compiled 44 points, finishing behind Yale (22 points) and ahead of Princeton (58 points). The Crimson women tallied 36 points, falling behind the Elis (26 points) but outdistancing the Tigers (72 points).

Yale's Jim Gibson and Susannah Beck finished first in the men's and women's races with times of 25:45 and 17:35, respectively. The top men's finisher for Harvard was junior Robert Benjamin. The women were led by junior Suzanne Jones.
