Grad Students Register Today

Some are in their first year, others their last, and still others wish they knew.

But all 3058 students at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences are expected to register for classes at Memorial Hall between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. today.

As many as 1000 of these students will find their registration packages tainted with the ominous red dot, according to Susan Schnarer, supervisor of the Billing Office. Those students must settle term bill discrepancies with the University before they can register for classes.

However, administrators foresee an ordinary, trouble-free registration for the rest.

All the packages will include "registration cards, study cards and all of the other information brochures that they'll need," according to Assistant Registrar for Graduate Records Gayle Merrithew.

"I would say things are pretty much the same as they have been," she said.

Unpleasant Surprises

But there may be some unpleasant surprises in store for any graduate students who miss registration.

They will need to pay $40 and visit Holyoke Center 805 to pick up their registration packages.

To avoid paying the late study card fee, too, those students will have make sure to turn in their study cards on September 22 in Memorial Hall.
