Certain allegations have been raised concerning the administration of The Memorial Church. These allegations were made by an individual who had left the employ of Harvard University four years ago. It was at the time of this individual's separation that these allegations were first published.
I am grateful for the strong endorsement of my integrity by the Vice President and General Counsel Daniel Steiner and other members of the Harvard Administration. I will not allow these baseless allegations to deter me or my staff from carrying out faithfully our responsibilities to Memorial Church in the highest tradition of Harvard University. I do not believe that these allegations demand any further comment by myself or my staff as further comment will only serve to give credence to something that deserves none.
Memorial Church Minister and Plummer Professor of Christian Morals Peter J. Gomes
