The natural law principle of legitimate defense whereby one may use the necessary force to prevent an assault on an innocent person is recognized in most United States jurisdictions. In response to a question. I expressed the belief that unborn children should not be discriminately exempted from that general principle, which in no other context is described as justifying violence.
