The men's hockey team broke Boston University's stranglehold on the Beanpot tournament, dealing the Terriers their first opening round loss in a decade on Monday night.
The Crimson completely shut down B.U.'s offense in winning 4-2. The game was not as close as the score indicated.
Harvard outshot the Terriers 36-17 and dominated the action. Steve Martins '95 had the third-period goal that clinched the game, and Ben Coughlin '95 scored the game-winner.
"That was certainly our best performance of the year for a full 60 minutes," Head Coach Ronn Tomassoni said after the game.
Harvard is a heavy favorite to win its second consecutive Beanpot championship--and third in the last six years--when it faces Boston College at Boston Garden Monday night.
