ARTSFirst Returns To Dazzle Us

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Just pray it doesn't rain. Those have been the words on everyone's lips concerning the return of the (now) annual gala arts spectacle, ARTSFirst. Since the day after the first ARTSFirst last year, the ARTSFirst Planning and Production Group, which includes actor and member of the Board of Overseers, John Lithgow '67 and the Director of the Office for the Arts, Myra Mayman, has been planning away. All of you nonfreshpeople will remember the plethora of events which took place. And this year they've added more.

Of special note:

Parade down Massachusetts Avenue to take place Saturday morning at 11:30am. It will not be a bunch of men dressed like women, escorting the hottest actress, but John Lithgow '67 leading the Harvard University Band.

Texas barbecue which will take place in the Sever Quad tent from 11:30am-1:30pm.

The Dance Festival Within the Festival featuring over 15 campus dance groups, Saturday, 1pm-4pm.

The Philadelphia Story presented by the Harvard-Radcliffe Dramatic Club on the Loeb Mainstage, Friday and Saturday at 8pm, Sunday at 7pm.

(And this reviewer's recommendation): Arthur Miller's The Crucible playing at the Agassiz Theatre, directed by David Travis `95, through Saturday 8pm.

Events throughout the Houses and all over campus will prove to be entertaining and enlightening. Go check it out...hopefully you will not need your umbrella.

*A full schedule of events, the ARTSFirst Guides, are available at the Coop, the Information Center at Holyoke Center Arcade, the Carpenter Center and the Fogg as well as other locations.
