The staff fails to take into account the mission of the Harvard Square Business Association and its member landlords and entrepreneurs. The association has been striving towards gentrification and the development of a high-income, non-local clientele for Harvard Square.

These plans leave students out of the picture. If restaurants like Elsie's are to survive the rising lease rates in Cambridge, students must make the association feel the force and importance of their sizable market share.
