Icewomen Split Two Games

Lose Close Game to Dartmouth, Top B.C. With Late Run

By Chris W. Mcevoy

Despite all the hype surrounding the men's hockey team in this year's Beanpot, the Harvard women's hockey team managed to put in two solid games of hockey this past weekend.

The Crimson (3-6-1, 10-12-1) lost to ECAC powerhouse Dartmouth College (8-1-1, 16-6-2) on Saturday by a close 5-4 margin and skated to a convincing 3-1 victory over Boston College (1-8-1, 7-11-2) on Sunday.

Big Green 5, Crimson 4

Right-winger Allison Mleczko was an offensive madwoman on Saturday and a huge headache for the Big Green, tallying two goals and two assists. Mleczko's offensive surge was not a first for the junior who hails from New Canaan, Connecticut.

Mleczko, who has led Harvard in scoring all season, constantly kept the game close and had a role in all of the Crimson's four goals. However, she and the rest of the Harvard players were never able to wrest the lead from Dartmouth.

Beginning with her goal near the end of the first period that tied the game at one, Mleczko then assisted senior forward Stacy Kellogg on the Crimson's second goal, cutting the lead to 3-2.

On the Crimson's third goal, Mleczko then fed right wing Christa Calagione early in the third period. After, Mleczko then scored the game's final goal in the third period with only two minutes left, ending the game at 5-4.

Crimson 3, Eagles 1

The Crimson went from playing the Big Green at the top of the ECAC to the Boston College Eagles, whose 1-8-1 ECAC record speaks for itself.

The game was stalemated at one all the way until the middle of the third period, when goals by junior right-winger Jenny Duval and sophomore Casi Walker eviscerated the woeful Eagles at their home rink.

Sophomore goalie Jen Bowdoin had 23 saves, holding the Eagles scoreless for the last 53:32 of the game. Harvard  4 Dartmouth  5 B.C.  1 Harvard  3
