Patrick T. Noble '01, the Lowell House resident hospitalized since he was struck by a car one week ago, has been upgraded from critical to "serious but stable" condition, a Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) spokesperson said yesterday.
A different MGH spokesperson told The Crimson Sunday that Noble was in fair condition and this information was reported on Monday. But yesterday MGH said Noble has never been listed in fair condition and insisted no hospital official would have released such a statement.
An e-mail message sent late Monday to Lowell residents by Senior Tutor Eugene C. McAfee described Noble's condition as "much improved" and said doctors are optimistic about his long-term recovery, though he remains in intensive care.
The e-mail also expressed the Noble family's gratitude to all those who have "sent kindness" to them.
Noble, a folklore and mythology concentrator and member of the ultimate Frisbee team, was injured on Memorial Drive on the night of Oct. 20.
