While the staff's concern for undergraduate safety is laudable, the three recent incidents do not represent a newly-arisen targeting of students as victims. Students should always exercise caution and the police should show vigilance but the staff should consider broader trends before shouting fire. Muggings of students on Cambridge streets represent no greater threat than attack on Cambridge citizens, which occur with greater regularity.
