Six Players Win All-Ivy Honors

By Cathy Tran, Crimson Staff Writer

Junior forward Dan Clemente and captain Damian Long were named to the All-Ivy League Men's Basketball Team yesterday afternoon. Clemente won First Team honors, and Long garnered an Honorable Mention.

Even though Clemente missed 11 games last season after undergoing surgery to repair a detached retina, the sharpshooting 6'7 forward appeared in 16 games this season and averaged 16.8 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. The 1997-98 Rookie of the Year, Clemente will begin next year's season with 997 career points, needing only three more to become Harvard's 20th 1,000-point scorer.

A small forward, Long started all 27 games for the Crimson last season and averaged 14.8 points and 4.3 boards per game. He led the Ivy League in three-pointers made last year with 72 treys, and his scoring average increased by more than 10 points than his junior year.

The Crimson ended its season with a 12-15 record (7-7 Ivy) and wound up in a tie for third with Columbia.
