Harvard Hires Former Eagle To Coach Men's Golf

Harvard director of golf Fred Schernecker announced the hiring of a former Boston College head coach as the men’s golf coach on September 3.

A Boston College tennis coach, that is.

John Gordon, the new hire as men’s golf coach, spent three years at the helm of the BC tennis program, before trading in his racket for a set of clubs.

Gordon has spent much of the last decade as a club professional, including a year as an assistant golf pro at Concord Country Club and six years as the head pro at Lancaster Golf Center.

“John Gordon is a passionate student and educator who has chosen golf as his outlet for learning and teaching,” Schernecker said in a press release. “Our program will quickly reap the rewards of John’s skills and commitment to player improvement...and I am convinced that he will be a driving force in achieving our vision of becoming the best golf program in the Northeast.”

Gordon won’t have much time to get acquainted with the team, as the regular season begins with the Dartmouth Invitational on September 25.
