M. Golf finishes in sixth place at the rain-shortened University of Rhode Island spring invitational

As the northeast continues to get pounded by a weather storm that belongs somewhere in the middle of March rather than the first week of May, the Harvard men’s golf team finished sixth in a 12-team field at the rain-shortened University of Rhode Island spring invitational.

With the second round cancelled due to massive rain and wind, the tournament was limited to only a single round.

Continuing a season-long trend for the Crimson, Harvard finished right in the middle of the pack.

Junior D. J. Hynes paced the Crimson with a two-over-par 73, which was good for the fifth-best individual score. Captain Chris Wu, normally Harvard’s scoring leader, shot a solid 36 on the front nine but struggled on the back nine, finishing the day with a five-over-par 76.

Freshman Sam Lissner, sophomore Tom Hegge, and senior Matt Amis also competed for the Crimson, shooting 82, 84, and 86, respectively.
