Things I'll miss...

Harvard-Yale shuttles, the Party Fund, HoCo subsidies, maybe 24-Hour Libraries?

Things I won't...

The UC.

MBTA

Things I'll miss...

Travel time, Harvard Square to Park Street: 20 minutes by cab ($20), 20 minutes by T ($1.25).

Things I won't...

Like the piece of toast that always falls butter-side down, a train going the wrong direction invariably comes twice before the one I’m waiting for.

Harvard Square

Things I'll miss...

Free cone day, Harvard Book Store, old man with the handmade one-string harp, 7-11, vaguely ethnic street festivals.

Things I won't...

The statue of Sumner, Wigglesworth, Starbucks.

Central Square

Things I'll miss...

The Enormous Room, Rodney’s, City Hall.

Things I won't...

The constant sense of danger.

The Residential House System

Things I'll miss...

I found a ten-person apartment with a view of the Charles without so much as a Google search. There is a library and a weight room and a foosball table, and I don’t have to worry about rent or food or utilities. The tutors and house masters are exceptional people with extraordinary stories and experiences and skills, who regularly bring brilliant scholars and renowned international leaders to speak.

Things I won't...

I can’t cook, pay bills, or negotiate rent.

HUDS

Things I'll miss...

’50s diner brunch, chili cheese dog day.

Things I won't...

The College was supposed to have completed renovating all of the house dining halls by last summer. Mather got left in the lurch. As a consolation, we were given a biweekly “culinary display,” featuring some sort of special dish like risotto. Once the promised renovations were set to begin, these displays shut down. WTF?

John Kerry

Things I'll miss...

Teresa.

Things I won't...

Agggggggggggghhhh!

Let's Go

Things I'll miss...

Free trip to Australia, where I surfed, jumped out of a plane, and rode a bull.

Things I won't...

They charged me for that sweatshirt! Can you believe that?!

Art

Things I'll miss...

The Ex, the ART, the Fogg, the Sackler, the Brattle, the Carpenter Center, Reimann.

Things I won't...

Boston’s “Broadway.”

Music

Things I'll miss...

Paradise, Passim, Avalon, Roxy, OurTunes.

Things I won't...

WHRB’s Record Hospital.

The Red Sox

Things I'll miss...

Seeing the Red Sox play at Fenway Park is the greatest live sports experience in the world, although I’ve never seen buzkashi or a Balinese cock fight. World Champions, indeed.

Things I won't...

Red Sox fans.

In Conclusion

I’m done with you, Boston.
